Welcome to a genealogical site for the surnames Berkhof and Berkhoff.

The surname Berkhof(f) is not a rare name. According the census of 1947, the name Berkhof occurs in The
Netherlands 691 times and the name Berkhoff 267. For Germany no precise statistics are known. But look-
ing at the phone-book, they can be estimated here at 5 and 300. Approximately another 450 name-bearers
of both kinds, live in various other countries. The surname is also not an original one. In The Netherlands as
well as in Germany more sources of origin are known. This sometimes causes difficulties by ´reconstructing´
families. Especially when they move to another (part of the) country, or even to another side of the world.

With this site we hope to stimulate research. This by making results of research more easily available and by
presenting a Message Board for researchers who need a helping hand. We further hope to make a worldwi-
